I hope this inspires you

I just reach home about one hour ago. As usual Friday vocal lesson! Alicia and I waited for the next class to end and went prata but everyone had something on so only left with Alicia, Ashton, Yixuan, Winson, Daniel and me. Surprisingly I ate porridge instead of prata and I couldn't finish that bowl! wahahha!

Winson and Daniel went off early to boat quay i think. hahaha. 老人就是这样, 爱喝酒。 哈哈哈! Oh ya, Winson managed to catch our lame jokes. wahahaha. We remained there and talked for like hours! hahah!

老师 was sharing about his plans, dreams, goals and stuffs with us which I think it was quite inspiring. His direction was clear and he has strong values. and I hope he will be very rooted in it and continue to inspire more people. After today, I really have greater understanding about him. I like the way he plan and I like his courage of pursuing his dreams. Being realistic but not giving up despite the huge risk. This is inspiring. This is passion.

I also heard from Sherlyn just now. She also shared about the draw and temptations in this music industry. How she actually came about at this position. And how to balance in our walk with God with the worldly things. How to pursue this interest as career with the right concept. Her path was not easy and she did make wrong decisions at some point of her life. No doubt that, she set her priorities right.

She didn't start off just like this knowing her directions and bang... at where she is now. She is not from any wealthy family. She worked hard for her fees and balancing between work and studies. She started off like us, wanting to be a singer, been through thicks and thins until she was at the stage of discussing her contract when she became a believer and God started to reveal her true purpose in life. She realised all that she wanted was fame and that was not what she really wanted. I really admire her courage because after standing strong, working hard for all these years for this dream, she declined the contract. After she turned down the contract, she remained as a part-time teacher in Ocean Butterflies' for some time before she become a full-time. At every point of her life, she never fail to continue learning in her profession. She stood strong but not pinning all her hopes in the opportunities that was given to her. God has indeed done miracles in her life. Turned the wrongs into rights!

She was like you and I, she was not the perfect perfectionist girl you see. She was even somehow tone-deaf. But she believed in herself and did not focus on the problem.

I just want to quote from her blog as I find it inspiring
"Yes, I was tone-deaf, but I refused to think that I cannot overcome. Yes, I failed along the way for competitions, auditions, performances, even told in my face that I was a bad singer and that I will never make it, but still I picked myself up, cleaned off the dirt, the thoughts of quitting and tears of disappointments, and walked on.

I was never the best among people, neither am I now, there are so many people who are so good in what they do, but that all is not the point, its not about the others."

She worked hard 11 years to be where she is. No matter what you do in your life, its your life. Keep going even if you meet nasty people. You don't have to be the best in your circle. You are the best you are. Faith is the key.

What kind of values do you possess? Are those values gonna see you through or are you gonna stand strong and live in it? I'm so thankful for the biblical principles I've learnt from church since young that I lived in it unknowingly. Even as a rebellious kid, I believed in myself. I was never classified as an emo kid. haha. My values that was cultured is so essential. Even if people have doubts in it, I will not have any uncertainty. Even if people have doubts in me, in my charater, in my perspective, I am certain for I serve a great God.

Well and I know truly its not by chance that people share all these. I knew and I sensed God is moving. This is the point. This is where my uncertainty gonna end. Its time. Its time to stand up and finish the race. Oh Lord, thank you for Your faithfulness even as I'm not. Thank You for the light. Thank You for the direction. Thank You for the cross. Thank You for Your love. Thank You for this experience. I will not give up. I will not give up on how this passion first came. I will not give up on the purpose of this passion. I knew how true it was and I know it is. I know You will be with me along this hard journey. I know Your grace. I know Your protection.
Amen!

Post 17th birthday celebration!
Sunday, June 22, 200822:50
Celebrated my birthday today! ok its darn happening but a little disorganized.

We started of with ice breaker. We played murderer. I believe everyone enjoyed yea? hahha

Next was praise and worship, we sang All Things New and I Surrender All.

Then we had a testimony time shared by yours truely. Those who missed the part, this is what i shared.

Hi friends, today is a very important day for me because I’m celebrating my 17th birthday. Firstly, I want to take this opportunity to thank God for this day. For some of you here who know me for quite awhile, you guys would know a bit of my past. For those who do not know, I was a very rebellious kid since young. In my teenage years, it got bad to worse. I mixed with the wrong company that led me to smoking, fights, taking drugs and shoplifting at the age of 13. I was blacklisted in school and was popular for sitting in the general office. In those days, the police are also the frequent people I meet.

I got into many troubles and in the year 2005 I was charged. I was sent to Girls’ Home for a month and 15 months of probation. Nevertheless, my heart was with that group of friends even after I came out from Girls’ Home. Hence, I got into more troubles that year. In January last year, I was charged again. This time I was remanded in Girls’ Home for a month and sentenced 18 months on probation. I really want to thank God because of the very very rare cases that can be placed on probation for the second time.

When I was in Girls’ Home, I prayed day and night and I felt so strongly that God was with me all the time. So when I heard that I’m able to go through probation again, I made a decision to change and desired to lead a better life. I quit all my bad habits at once and left the group of friends. During last year’s Easter, I came back to church and decided to plant myself here. I’m very grateful to God because He changed my life tremendously. He gave me a purpose in life and a passion to pursue my dream in singing. After experiencing all this, I really do not regret of such a past. I believe my experience can be of help to the people around me.

Friends, if a person like me can dream big dreams, I believe all of can. I really want to encourage all of you that if you have a dream, do not be afraid to pursue it. There may be a lot of challenges but your passion will keep you going. I also learnt to keep a positive attitude in facing every challenge. My experience had helped me to grow in maturity and I had grown to know who Jesus is. Without Him, I won’t be able to turn myself from my past and would never have the courage to pursue my dream.

Lastly, I want to thank all my cell group members especially Marlin and Seth who was always there in times of need. Without you guys, my life would not be filled with so much joy and laughter. I also want to thank all of you who spend your time to come here. I really appreciate your presence. I have also prepared a little card for all of you. Hope you enjoy yourselves today!!!

Thank you.

Followed by collecting God's offering.

Big Bang Big Bang!
Thursday, June 19, 200802:34
I so love the camp!

First, we wake up at 530am every morning before the camp to pray. For friends, for logistics, for weather, for members, for cg, for zone, for church, for everything. We prayed so much and just a few days before the camp, we have 0 friends who are coming. As we continue to press in to God, He showed us ways and opened doors.

During the camp, we have 2 friends, Kewei and Kelvin.
Kewei is Kexin's younger brother which is also my student. He is 11 years old this year. He's so well taken care of because he's like the 宝贝 among us. The brothers piggy-back him, carried his bag for him, give up the whole bed to him, talk to him, play(chopstick) with him. and found himself a few new friends like jj and yerui. hahah! Even at the end of the camp, his bag was full of titbits that are given by all of us. hahah. Got to thank the guys for taking care of him so well, showing love and care if not we will lose our ultimate purpose of the camp. Yea, and the most important thing is that HE RECEIVED SALVATION!

Kelvin is Priscillia's friend. He was super spontaneous when we are playing games. He never once complain that its tiring or even pull a long face that shows his un-interest. He was so involved and enthusiastic. I'm sure he enjoyed himself and found more friendship in our cg. Although he didn't respond, he agreed to come for cg and service every. This is a good start. Thanks, guys for putting the effort to engage him.

I feel like after the camp our cg become more reactive. Why reactive? In the reactivity series, magnesium, aluminum, zinc and iron are metals that are less reactive which has weak bonds whereas potassium, sodium and calcium are very reactive metals and has very strong bonds. So we're like the less reactive metals in the past which has weak bonds but now, we are the very reactive metals that has strong bonds.

Although its just 3 days 2 nights, God opened doors and did miracles. For example, we had been praying for good weather as the weather forecast predicted that there will be thunder storm.God indeed answered our prayers because the camp was very successful and we're not affected by any bad weather. Praise the Lord!

During the first night, although all of us are so worn out, we still came together to pray in front of the bbq pit. I was so tired as I didn't sleep for few days before the camp. Thank God for the strength! As I prayer walked that day, God began to speak to me about healing. And my faith suddenly raised up and began to pray for the sick. I prayed for Queen and true enough, she got back her voice the next day. I also feel that God is beginning to use me in the area of healing. I suddenly have the burden to want to pray for Nicole for healing. If you see it, you'll have it.

Happy Birthday to me!

Went KTV just now with Royston, Yikang and Regina. It was so fun as we used the HALL. hahah! And now, I feel that my sore throat is coming back. Better drink more honey and sea coconut. hahah! Thanks guys for the 12am sharp warm-but-not-very-familiar-Happy Birth(s) day! ahahah!
Speacial thanks to:

One Of Us
Monday, June 02, 200804:02

Marie Digby, One of Us
Original Singer: Joan Osborne
Check this out. Nice voice.

If God had a name, what would it be
And would you call it to His face
If you were faced with Him in all his glory
What would you ask if you had just one question

And yeah yeah God is great
yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home

If God had a face what would it look like
And would you want to see
If seeing meant that you would have to believe
In things like heaven and in Jesus and the saints and all the prophets

And yeah yeah God is great
yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make His way home
He's trying to make His way home

And yeah yeah God is great
yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make His way home
Just trying to make His way home
Back up to heaven all alone
Nobody calling on the phone
Except for the pope maybe in Rome

The lyrics speaks of my heart.
God is great, God is good!
The lyrics makes me feel that people are constantly asking themselves of such questions. Or rather I wished to ask unbeliever such questions. If you knew who is He would you ignore Him or would you love Him? If you can have an encounter with Him, do you want it? But if an encounter means to believe. If you can have a relationship with Him, would you want to build it? God is loving!

let's do some math Part II
Friday, May 16, 200802:27

let's do some math Part I:

http://ineffabilis.blogspot.com/2008/01/lets-do-some-math.html

I was talking to Veracia during our long bus journey home. So we're actually talking about the importance and urgency in winning souls.

I suddenly recalled of the entry she posted some time ago. She said "
we know that a human spend ⅓ of their life sleeping. an average person spend ¼ of their life waiting for everything."

According to Sy Rogers, by the rate of people being saved in the world, they calculated that around year 2030 the whole world will be saved. Which means:

2030 - 2008 = 22 years

22 years - (22 x ⅓) - (22 x ¼) = 9.67 years left

The total population in Singapore is 4,588,600. The percentage of Christians (excluding catholics - 4.8%) here is 9.8%

No. of Christians in Singapore = 4,588,600 people X 9.8% = 449,683 Christians

No. of non-christians = 4,588,600 - 449,683 = 4,198,917 non-christians

No. of salvation = 4,198,917 ÷ 449,683 = 9.34

Average no. of salvation = 10 (take 9.34 as 10) ÷ 10 (take 9.67 years as 10) = 1 soul/year

Yes, I mean 1 salvation each year. It can be done right? You have probably led a few or a lot or not a single soul to Christ. It time to start to pray for open doors among your friends. There is not much time for you to waste, to wait, to sleep.

If you have led a few to Christ, I don't mean that you should stop reaching out. You should continue to pray and obey God's word. Continue to make a difference among your friends. You never know when the Holy Spirit will set you up.

If you have led a lot to Christ, well done! And that doesn't mean you should stop. This means you should continue to evangelize and win more souls since God is really using you to impact people. After relating to so many people, problems, needs and test, I believe you have great testimonies to share and encourage people being saved or unsaved. You are definitely a person of influence right?

If you have not led a single one to Christ, WAKE UP! Its TIME to work now!

We are believers of Christ. Probably some would say every religion is the same. They teaches us to love people as ourselves. But notice one thing, Christianity is not a religion because our God is alive. Christianity is a relationship with God. It is different from other religion. So why? Yes, most religions teaches us to love people as ourselves. But hey, we are not perfect people. Can we love with or strength? Some people don't even know how to love themselves. Oh well, so why Christianity is different since we all can't love people as ourselves? The difference is we have the Holy Spirit to help us to love. And a normal relationship with people needs commitment so what's more about the relationship with God. This explains why we go to church every week. Our prayer with God is a Dialogue. Its not a Monologue. We talk to God. We don't just pray for our needs. In fact, He knows them all. He is our God, our Father, Our Saviour, He is alpha and omega. He loves us and He is always waiting for us to talk to Him. Ain't my God great? Ain't salvation precious?

It depends on you whether you wish to hear "faithful servant" or "well done" when you meet Jesus in heaven. It depends on you whether you want to meet one or a few fruits or a huge congregation in heaven saying "this person brought me to church". It depends on you whether you want Jesus to call you a servant or a child.

Oh God, I love you.

Different people has different calling but I will follow You. You have the greatest plan for me. I don't care what is my calling, what is my desire. Not my will, but Yours be done. Sometimes, when we know our calling, we tend to be a bit too persistent in our calling. Thinking that, it is not my calling, I can't do that?

Oh Lord, I will not carry such attitude. I love you and I will do what You want me to do. Use me, give it to me. Let me do the things that people do not want to do. You are the best reward. I have not forgotten the promises I make and I will not forget. I will not give up for I know You will provide the strength, peace, love, wisdom and everything I need!

Amen!

Blessed!
Wednesday, April 23, 200818:41

Hi guys, I'm back. Really sorry for not updating due to the time table in the previous post. Ya I know its been more than a week. Well, have been studying everyday as my exams are starting next week.

Went for Dr Kim's on sunday. It was really powerful. It was really an impartation. She preached a very simple message on Holy Spirit but right after her message, I felt the pressence so strong in the midst of us. The pressence was so tangible and tears kept flowing then God began to say "I will give you strength and power in all things". Wah, Thank you Jesus!! He indeed know my hearts desire. That night when I was doing my quiet time, I received a revelation

1 Peter 5 : 6 - 11
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Yesterday, I went for choir practice and belle shared a word which is exactly my revelation.

As you humble ourselves and put God first, when He sees you, He'll be so pleased and He'll say "WOW". When you lift up your burdens and prayers, He'll answer them. You got to constantly know the voice of the Lord. No matter what tribulations you experience, you must know that Jesus Christ had experienced it, yet without sin and you are rooted deep in the water. You got to be hungry and do not feel satisfied easily in knowing God. As you are closer to Him, He will then reveal things to you. Alot of times we believe in every other people but not ourselves. We must not let the roaring lion come and cause us to doubt ourselves.
